The red areas shown are areas of new planting to increase the size of Bishop Hagg Wood and to help with flood protection by intercepting surface water as it flows into the River Seven to the east.

FRED'S WOOD, the northeastern newly planted area is named after the landowner's Ann Procope's late husband.

Please note access is limited to legal rights of way and the permissive path established through the wood. The newly planted areas are a haven for wildlife and are subject to damage through unauthorized access from people, dogs and horses.
Sheep have occasionally gain access and do a lot of damage by using the tree stakes as a scratching post which  loosens the tree guard giving access to rabbits, deer and small mammals
